How to Make a Gimlet Cocktail

The history of this gin-based classic is somewhat murky, but it is thought to have originated in the British navy in the 19th century. At the time, lime juice was given to sailors to prevent scurvy, and it is believed that the gimlet was created as a way to make the tartness of lime juice more palatable. The proportions of these ingredients can vary, but a common ratio is 2 parts gin to 1 part lime juice. Some variations may also include a small amount of simple syrup to sweeten the drink.

Serve in – Coupe glass

Garnish – Lime wheel

Ingredients

  • 60ml Dry Gin (We Suggest Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin)

  • 30ml Fresh Lime Juice

  • 20ml Simple Syrup (This is entirely optional and can be adjusted to taste)

Method

  1. Simply combine all of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. And when we say vigorously, we mean as hard as you can, to make the cocktail as cold as you possibly can.

  2. Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass

  3. Garnish with a lime wheel

Bottom’s up!
